European Works Council

The European Works Council (EWC) is a representative body that brings together employees from across the European Economic Area, making multilingual communication an inherent part of its work. Audio & Interpretation Services play a crucial role in ensuring that language never becomes a barrier to effective dialogue.
Established under the EWC Directive, which came into force in 1996, large organisations operating across multiple EU member states are required to create formal structures for informing and consulting employees. Because these meetings naturally involve participants from different linguistic backgrounds, the directive explicitly highlights the need for simultaneous interpretation. This requirement ensures that every delegate can fully understand the discussions and contribute confidently in their native language, supporting both inclusivity and meaningful participation.
